LED LIGHTING

Unintentually we have become quite the LED lighting experts. We have tested dozens of lights over most of the ranges available in South Africa, and have some astounding results. We have overcome many obstacles presented in the dimming of LED, and bench tested some of the cheaper LED lights available, coupled with their recommended transformers, as well as the premium ranges installed in some prominant hotels and casinos.
What you need to understand as a consumer, is that just because your lamp is 3W, or 5W or even 11W, you may not necessarily be saving energy. We recently tested the total wattage an 11W LED draws, when connected to a magnetic transformer, and the total result was 36W, which is just under 14W less than a conventional downlight connected to an electronic transformer.
Our most energy efficient scenario was connecting 4 x11W LED's to a  toroidal transformer (locally made), which had a total consumption of 41W.
